Meet Your Counselors

Patricia (Pam) Andrews is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Professional School Counselor, National Certified Counselor. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Andrews earned a Master of Arts degree in Agency Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Counseling along with Addictions Counseling. She later added an advanced license in school counseling. Andrews completed her graduate programs at Appalachian State University. Mrs. Andrews has worked in the professional counseling field since 1987. She worked for New River Behavioral Healthcare for approximately 25 years in a variety of roles including clinical and administrative duties. Andrews is a Qualified Mental Health Professional, Qualified Substance Abuse Professional, and Qualified Developmental Disability Professional. She has worked with all three disability populations and all ages across the continuum engaging in a wide spectrum of clinical diagnoses. Andrews utilizes an eclectic therapeutic approach with her clients incorporating a variety of treatment modalities. Andrews’ treatment may encompass any of the following approaches:

Anger Management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Parent Work, Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Systems Theory. Andrews has been trained in and practiced Critical Incidence Stress Debriefing, provided crisis response services, and has been engaged in clinical supervision for more than 30 years. 

Randy Johnson has been practicing therapy as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor for over 20 years and has been working in the behavioral healthcare field for over 28 years. He has provided the services of case management, therapy, crisis intervention, program director, community support, etc. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gardner-Webb University, Master of Divinity Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master of Arts Degree from Appalachian State University. Johnson has provided individual and group counseling for children, adolescents, and adults for various issues such as mood disorders, behavioral problems, domestic violence, etc. He has also worked with couples in resolving discord in relationships. He works most frequently from a Psychodynamic model while incorporating elements of CBT, Reality Therapy, Play Therapy, and Gestalt approaches. Johnson's skills also include knowledge in Spiritual Direction, Native American spirituality, and Dream Interpretation. 

Amanda Taylor Edwards is a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 8 years experience of working with mental health populations from all age groups, including extensive treatment with children and adolescents. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Appalachian State University in May 2010. She then earned her Clinical Social Work licensure in January 2013. Amanda enters her therapeutic relationships with a person-centered; strengths based treatment approach and tailors your work together based on your own individual needs and personality. Her approach to counseling involves helping you to identify strengths within yourself and to assist you with developing self-awareness. She embraces a strength-based perspective and takes a wholistic approach to treatment, borrowing from many different theory-based modalities with the aim of exploring your own unique biopsychosocial influences. Techniques that she utilizes may include psycho education, relaxation, reframing of negative thoughts, dialogue, role-play, mindfulness, positive decision-making, and/or writing/art exercises. Amanda will work with you to help you establish realistic and attainable goals that you both will continue to monitor together and can be modified throughout the therapy process as your needs change. Amanda has experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialiectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT),

Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Behavior Modification and more.

Georgie Stone, MSW, LCSW 

Georgie Stone is a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker with fourteen years of clinical practice with individuals, families, children and groups. Georgie joined the practice of Capstone Wellness Center in May 2020. She is providing psychotherapy services to adults, families, couples and groups in the Elkin and Sparta offices of Capstone.


Georgie specializes in using evidence-based modalities for the treatment of mood disorders (depression, anxiety/panic, bi-polar disorder), unresolved trauma (PTSD, sexual, emotional and physical abuse), grief and loss, marital and family distress, coping with chronic/serious illness and life transition issues (empty-nest, caregiving, retirement, end of life). Stone has training and experience in Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Play and Sand Tray Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment Therapy, Group Therapy and Griefwork.


She takes an empowerment approach to therapy, together you will assess your strengths and obstacles to overcoming mental health challenges (evaluating mind, body, social and spiritual aspects of your life that may be impacting your current distress). She will provide a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic space and psycho-educational information to assist you in developing your own healthy lifestyle, wellness plan.


Mrs. Stone earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Lenoir-Rhyne University (1982) and a Masters of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1992). Her clinical experience is in Community Mental/Behavioral Health- (Catawba, Surry, Yadkin and Alleghany Counties), Hospice (Catawba, Forsyth, Surry Counties and Southwestern Virginia) and Department of Social Services/Family Services-Child and Adult Protective Services (Catawba County). Prior to earning Clinical Social Work Licensure (1995), she was a social worker for ten years in community non-profits developing family violence prevention programs (Catawba and Caldwell County) and in the Department of Social Service Child and Adult Protective Services (Catawba County). 

Sandra Walker joins Capstone Wellness Center with over 40 years experience in the mental health system.

She is presently a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor--Supervisor Level. She has experience with all 3 disability groups. Sandra has extensive training in Motivational Interviewing. She has an interest in working with members of the IDD and Asperger's community.

She also has experience with critical incident work, interpersonal violence, grief, trauma and depression. She is also competent with recovery and recovery maintenance. Sandra Walker looks forward to continued work with her community. She has a military background and is very comfortable serving those folks.

I am Haley McCoin Sullivan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate with 6 years clinical experience working diverse populations of all race, religions, socio-economic status and gender.  In my clinical practice I have worked with people from many walks of life including but not limited to those dealing with trauma, substance abuse, domestic violence and specifically those who are victims of abuse, neglect, dependency or abandonment. I earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work and Administration and Supervision in 2013 from the University of New England. My Bachelors degree in Social Work, with a concentration in school social work, came from Western Carolina University. I have worked in many settings in the social work field and enjoy serving those in my community to help them uncover and obtain their potential.  I am devoted to providing my clients with clinically appropriate treatment using evidence  based methods. All services provided respect your rights to confidentiality and privacy.  Our work together will be a collaborative or team effort in which we both work to reach your treatment goals, an help you develop the skills necessary to maintain your growth and progress.
